Work Life Balance

Imagine a world where money wasn't a thing, a society, a city that possessed highly desirable or nearly perfect qualities for its citizens , the ideal personalized Utopia perhaps? A place where worries were washed away, we did what we wanted, whenever we wanted. Sounds insane, well, cause it is. We need money, we need to work, we need to survive. Societies thrive off of order, a systematic approach to life. Does that mean this grind we call work for example, is the end all be all? why do we as a society care so much about 6 figure salaries, and "the perfect safe secure job"? unfortunately its ingrained in our culture, craziest thing is we LOVE it, we love the hustle, I know I do. Fortunately, I also know there is more, and I understand and appreciate the balance and symmetry in it all.

For 2 full years, since graduating from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, I have tried wrapping my mind around many questions ive drawn on above. Im a City Planner, I love my Job, and am fortunate enough to only hate it 5 percent of the time..... Thats probably not what my boss would want to hear but cmon, its true no matter who you are or what you do! Even the big shot MLB players of todays generation feel this way about a 162 game seasonal grind. No matter how beautiful that field might look to us fans, the dog days of summer really do get to them.

If you're feeling this way or have had similar thoughts, you're already on the right step (in my opinion) to living a transparent, balanced and honest lifestyle. Everyone is different, and my message would be to simply be honest with what it is you want out of life, and go after it, but truly GO AFTER IT. Lifes too short to think about this stuff and never do anything about it. For me, that escape is travel. Ill end my first post with a recommendation, a book I was recently recommended by a close friend. The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. This gem has been around for 25+ years and was the perfect 170 Page escape I needed this week. Got me thinking about my next trip! Thanks for reading, drop us a line or leave a comment below!
